Driving Climate Action by Designing and Operating Greener Buildings Through LEED v4.1 BD+C and O+M

Approved for 3 AIA CE hours.

Presenter: Mark Maxwell, Director of Sustainability, UC Merced

This workshop will help you understand how to drive climate action through green building design and operations. It will show you how to successfully and effectively implement LEED v4.1 throughout the lifecycle of a building. At each phase you’ll understand how LEED v4.1 is increasing achievability and expanding the market for high performing green buildings. Mark will share the lessons learned from UC Merced and how LEED helps the university connects green buildings to healthy outcomes for people, planet, and profit.
This workshop is designed for community leaders, students and professionals  who want to transform their practice to design, construct, and/or operate better buildings.

Learning objectives:

Apply LEED as a performance standard to design, construct and operate better performing buildings

Work in an integrative process to address the gaps across the life cycle of green building projects

Use LEED and Arc to track and manage carbon emissions from buildings and how they impact your LEED certification

Demonstrate how LEED v4.1 expands the marketplace to support all buildings at all phases of its lifecycle

Continental breakfast will be provided.
