CARTS facility: Cedar Avenue Recycling and Transfer Station (CARTS) is a state-of-the-art materials recovery facility diverting recycled material from the landfill. On the tour, guests will see how recycling material is processed and sorted by people and robotic technology. Guests will also learn about the community impact of improper household hazardous waste disposal and learn how the facility's high-tech fire prevention and detection system works.
Safety: For safety reasons, Caglia requires that tour attendees wear long pants (legs covered) and sturdy, flat closed-toe shoes (no ballet flats, high heels, or canvas shoes). Tour attendees will be walking across uneven surfaces and climbing and descending stairs.
Caglia provides and requires the following personal protective equipment (PPE): safety vests, hard hats, and safety glasses. Caglia can also provide earplugs and masks (on request). Part of the tour is a little loud and some days are smellier than others. Guests may wear their own PPE if they prefer.
Parking: Attendees can enter our main gate from Cedar Avenue and make a right into the parking lot by the two-story building (map below). Please carpool if possible - parking is limited.
